Biography
Born in Montreal on April 24, 1948, I was raised in Hull,
Québec where I studied social sciences at Ottawa University
and eventually at the Université du Québec,
in Montréal. From then on, I worked as a researcher
until 1976. In 1979, after 2 years of apprenticeship learning
the art of pottery at La Poterie Bonsecours, in Montreal,
I opened my own workshop and participated at several exhibitions,
namely: Le Salon des Métiers d’Art de Montréal.
Eleven years in practicing this art permits me to draw form,
proportion and balance with expertness.
Drawing with coloured pencils
In 1987, crafts being no longer a must. I changed my course
and started breeding Brittany spaniels, under the affix :
Élevage de Rouboy, for the upland hunter. It is through
this passion allied to hunting that I discovered the true
essence of wildlife. As for dog portraits, training and judging
pointing dogs, helps me in decrypting each breed in regards
to their specific traits. The decisive look of a Brittany
Spaniel, the sorrowful impression given by an English Setter
as the authoritarian attitude of a German Shorthair Pointer
are rendered with accuracy.
The first step is to draw sketches until I capture the whole
of the subject. Once this is achieved, I draw the final portrait
on Stonehenge paper with Rembrandt polychrome crayons and
graphite.
